1989-1993 Paul Bellows and Jason Summach host a college talent show. Highlights include a celebrated performance of Pachelbel’s Canon on trumpet, piano, violin, kazoo, and water glasses. The experience leaves Bellous & Summach dubbed, "The Culture Boys". The Culture Boys perform at festivals and coffeehouses in and around Calgary. Two albums are recorded - "Wisdom of the Ancients", and "Turnip". A popular street act at the Edmonton Fringe Festival, Bellous and Summach seek to boost their curb appeal with the addition of Rick Oldring and drummer Tim Baron.

1993-1995 Paul moves away (93), and Tim goes to school (95). Drummer Bill Peake takes Tim’s seat, and instrument wizard Steve Fisher takes up Paul’s licks. The band changes its name to "The Garden Weasels" for 10 days.

1996 The band sets its sights on bigger stages, and welcomes bassist Joel Kleine. The search for a new musical identity leads Jay, Rick, Steve, Bill, and Joel, arms swinging and tongue-in-cheek, to skip madly from folk ballad to jig to jug-band sing-a-long. Armed with a daunting array of instruments, the band moves frantically between traditional and original selections, transporting listeners through time and space, from castle to cornfield to Coquihalla. In the midst of this fen of tradition and innovation, a lovely thing is born : "The SplendourBog" The Bog goes on to share Edmonton stages with such acts as Captain Tractor, Hookahman, Feeding Like Butterflies, Hokus Pik, and Great Big Sea!

1997 Demand for a SplendourBog recording peaks with the release of their debut recording, "Elevator Music". A team of talented artists contribute to the release including Jerry Woolsey (Beta Studios, Edmonton), Randy Hayashi (Inkwell Press), Bud Bremner (Coastal Mastering, Vancouver), and The Tape Lady (Charmain Beckett, Edmonton), and the 6th Boglin, our soundman, Orville Chubb.

SUMMER 1997 The SplendourBog takes its first tour - a 20 day crusade across the West. Between July ains a relentless schedule, performing 30 times in more than a dozen locations. Stops included Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Canmore, Banff, Golden, Whistler, Victoria, Nanaimo, Keats Island, Kelowna, Kamloops, Summerland, and Prince George.

1998 Terrible tidings. Steve Fisher moves to the distant south lands of Alberta, following his dream of riding unbroke bulls in the rodea (several rodeos). After an unfortunate fall and a poorly (well?) aimed hoof, Steve retires from the field and takes up the director position in the Calgary All Boys choir.

1998 Paul Bellows gives up his career training attack cattle and, having recently located to Edmonton from parts unknown (Winnipeg) makes an attempt to fill the shoes of Steve.

2000 Released with a clean bill of health, Jason Summach leaves the clinic and returns to the band. Weakened, yet determined, they take the odd gig to try to pay the rent and Rick's medical bills. Currently living in a run down former hotel on highway 16 just west of Edmonton, the band is rehearsing for their annual appearance on Whistler Mountain. Catch them when you can, and you'd better be prepared to run because this band is on the move.
