Cookies by George is famous for the “cookie that launched a thousand hips.” We helped them take their fresh-baked goodness all over North America, with a very tasty e-commerce solution. You're welcome.
Cookies by George is a Canadian institution, providing the absolute best fresh-baked cookies from their retail locations across the country. The Edmonton-based company is famous for their classic chocolate chunk, “the cookie that launched a thousand hips.” We appreciate their honesty. Also, we love cookies.
Cookies by George’s retail sales were going strong, but they wanted to expand into e-commerce with an online ordering system. Delivering fresh cookies to hungry people all over North America isn’t easy. Neither is coordinating the whole process through a centralized e-commerce platform.
The Cookies by George web channel had to stay true to the cheeky, irreverent personality of their company. We needed to translate their unique retail experience onto the web – from the copywriting right down to the visual design. This required intensive research into the heart of the company’s offering (code for “we ate a lot of cookies”).
Yellow Pencil worked with George’s team to understand the complexities of their shipping process, and built a comprehensive online ordering and payment system. We designed a website that’s (almost) as much fun as they are, letting their personality shine through with testimonials (“Better to have eaten and gained, then never to have eaten at all”) and company mottos (“Carpe cookie – seize the cookie”). We helped them establish new channels for reaching out to their customers, with an email newsletter and “Frequent Chewers” customer loyalty program.
The CookiesByGeorge.com website has been transformative for George’s team, allowing them to provide better customer service, increase sales without increasing staff, and expand George’s reach across North America.
Business grows year over year, and Yellow Pencil is always helping to refine and improve Cookies by George’s online operations. Their website runs off our own Yellow Pencil e-commerce system, so we can tailor it to meet their needs. Sometimes people ask us if there is really a George. But we're too busy eating cookies to answer.
