The Client

Concordia University College of Alberta was established in 1921. They provide undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Edmonton, Alberta, and are known for their small class sizes and committed faculty.

The Problem

Concordia University College had a few challenges:

  • They wanted to use Drupal for their web channel, but struggled with how to effectively implement it on their own.
  • The administrative workflow and editor had to be easy to use for various levels of content contributors, and site administrators.
  • Their visual design needed a good user experience review and update.
  • They had two very clear target audiences – current students and future students – that needed content delivered directly to them in a method that just made sense.

The Solution

Concordia's new website was built and launched on Drupal7, just days after its final stable release – giving Concordia one of the earliest Drupal7 implementations in Canada. By implementing best practices for administrative workflow, we were able to deliver a system that was not only easy to use, but easy to administer.

We also conducted a UX review of the new design, and offered subtle updates to maintain consistency. This increased the usability of the site, allowing for page templates that could better handle the content type requirements.

The Results

The website has been very successful and has helped move Concordia forward to a goal of reaching out to new students, while still honouring the needs of the existing students.
